Graduation & Senior Events

 

ONE MORE MONTH OF SENIOR YEAR!

Seniors: You have just over four more weeks of school! The last day for late work, revisions and retakes is Wednesday, May 31st. If you are struggling with any of your classes, please connect with your teachers and use Guide Group time to complete missing work. 

 

2023 GRADUATION - UPCOMING SENIOR EVENTS AND DEADLINES

• Community service hours due for recognition (40+ hours). If you believe you have earned the community service cord, you must confirm with Mr. Platt. If you still have any questions about verification of community service hours, mock interview and CRLE requirements, please contact Mr. Platt in the counseling office ASAP.

• Friday, June 2nd: Last day of school for seniors! Senior books, chromebooks and chargers, calculators, and supplies due (return to main office).  All fees must be paid by 3pm. 

• Wednesday, June 7th at 6pm: Senior Awards Night in the SHS Auditorium. Seniors receiving awards will receive an invitation. There is no limit to the number of guests.

• Friday, June 9th at 7:50am: Seniors board buses at SHS for graduation practice at the Salem Armory. Seniors are required to ride the bus to participate in rehearsal.

• Friday, June 9th at 6:30pm: Graduation at Salem Armory. Seniors must arrive between 5:30-5:45 pm. Seating at the Armory will be first come-first served and there is no guest limit.

HOMEGOING WEEK IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 30TH - JUNE 2ND

Seniors - Check SHS social media and information shared via ASB and Senior Class President, Avery Mannix, if you want to participate. A fun week of events is being planned!

 

These are some of the events:

Tuesday, May 30th - Water Balloon Fight from 3-4pm on the football practice field.

Wednesday, May 31st - Powder Puff from 4-7pm on the turf.

Friday, June 2nd - Senior vs. Staff kickball from 4-7pm at the softball field with a BBQ before at 3pm. 

Friday, June 2nd - Senior Sunset is also planned but time is still TBD.

 

SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7TH AT 6PM IN THE SHS AUDITORIUM

Seniors who are being recognized at Senior Awards Night will be notified by invitation, (although many seniors are already aware they should plan to attend). Many seniors are being recognized for a variety of honors, including community service, pathways, academic honors, citizenship, scholarships, and more. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the accomplishments of SHS seniors. There is no guest limit.

 

ALL NIGHT GRAD PARTY DETAILS: FRIDAY, JUNE 9TH

Information from our senior grad party parents: The DRUG FREE AND ALCOHOL FREE All Night Grad Party will be Friday, June 9th from 9:30pm to 4:30 am at the Salem KROC Center. All graduating seniors should have received a google form via email or picked one up from the high school. WAIVERS WERE DUE MAY 1ST. If you have any questions, please contact the Senior Party Planning Committee at staytonsppc@gmail.com.

 

Students will be bussed to and from the event. Students need to check in for the party at approximately 9:00pm in front of the Salem Armory (near the buses) following the graduation ceremony. At the conclusion of the party, the graduates will be transported via bus directly to Stayton High School. The bus will arrive at approximately 4:30am. We highly recommend a parent or legal guardian pick up their graduate at the school at 4:30am to prevent driving after being awake all night.

2023 GRADUATION DAY DETAILS!!

Info seniors need for graduation day Friday, June 9th:

• Graduation Practice:

  • YOU MUST ATTEND PRACTICE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRADUATION CEREMONY!!

  • 7:50am - Be on the bus ready to leave SHS

    • YOU MUST RIDE THE BUS TO AND FROM PRACTICE, NO EXCEPTIONS!

    • Do NOT wear your cap and gown to practice, just bring it with you if you plan to participate in the Senior Walk (see information below).

    • You will be given your seat number for the walking order.

    • You will be able to tell us where to send your final transcript.

  • Noon - We will be back around noon.

• The Senior Parents will be providing lunch in the Field House when students return from graduation practice.

• Graduation Ceremony: No bus transportation - seniors will need to drive themselves or ride with family members. Family and guest seating is first come-first served, available but limited handicap seating, no guest limit.

  • 5:30-5:45pm - Seniors arrive at the Salem Armory.

  • 6:00pm - Line up

  • 6:30pm - Ceremony starts!

 

Notes:

• All chromebooks and charging cords, textbooks, and other borrowed school items must be returned by Friday, June 2nd and all fees must be paid.

• All fees must be paid by 3pm on June 2nd or you will not receive your diploma. 

• Diplomas can be picked up after the graduation ceremony in the foyer of the Armory as long as no fees or school supplies are outstanding and borrowed caps and gowns are returned. You can also pick them up the next week in counseling office.

 

SENIOR WALK: JUNE 9TH

The Senior Parent Committee has been working with the Elementary schools at NSSD to get the Grad Walk Through approved and happening. Here is what the day will look like for our seniors.

 

CLASS of 2023

There will be graduation practice on June 9th from 8-11:30am. This is MANDATORY for Graduation. Bussing is provided by the school.

 

Lunch will be provided by the Senior Parents upon arrival back at the school.

 

After lunch students can change into their cap and gowns and get ready to head off to the Elementary school of choice.

*****BRING YOUR CAP AND GOWN, but DON’T wear it to graduation practice!*****

 

We will be carrying on the tradition of graduates walking the halls of the grade schools in our school district. Those participating will need to wear their cap and gown for the event.

 

Elementary School Walk Through

June 9th, 12:45-1:45pm

 

Students will be riding on a bus to and from the elementary schools. This is such a fun event. Please remember to be respectful and represent the Class of 2023 with pride.
