AVID's mission is to help prepare ALL students for college or career readiness and success in a global society. One element is an elective class that occurs during the regular school day at middle and high schools and relies on tutors to assist the elective teachers.
Tutors act as role models and mentors for students and facilitate small group tutorials twice a week in classrooms. No teaching experience is necessary because tutors receive 16 hours of training in AVID strategies and small group instruction.
