Good Afternoon SIS/SMS Parents, Students and Staff;
Happy Spring!! I hope everyone had a restful spring break. I don’t know about everyone else, but this is one of my favorite times of the year. The weather begins to warm up and every now and then we get those sunshiny days that make you think summer is right around the corner. In my opinion, nothing better than some warm weather to put some life back into your body after a long cold winter.
I want everyone to know that I appreciate your work during these times. It has been difficult for parents, students and staff to navigate this school year. We have had numerous changes to schedules to meet the guidelines set forth by ODE. We have moved from CDL, to LIPI and now we are into hybrid. We are into our fourth week of hybrid and it may not be perfect, but it has been wonderful to see students again and have some actual conversations with students. I anticipate us staying with this model (hybrid) for the foreseeable future. I know the governor has made some recent changes to her mandates, but for now we will be staying with what we have. Again, if any changes occur moving forward we will provide families time to prepare.
We are nearing the end of our third quarter at SIS/SMS. That means it is time for spring conferences. I will attach the dates and time schedule below in order for families to plan. Remember, these are only progress reports on our campus. It is imperative that you meet with your student's teachers during conferences in order to ensure they are up to date on assignments.
We are in the process of also planning for some summer school opportunities for students. I am in the process of gathering information from staff as we speak. The summer school schedule would be mornings only from 8:30-11:30 Monday through Thursday. We are planning to run summer school from June 28th to July 29th. The purpose of summer school would center around regaining skills that students may have missed due to the pandemic. Please look for more information as we continue our planning.
As always, it is a pleasure to serve our students and our community as a whole. I appreciate everyone's willingness to put children's needs first. We will be in touch quite often over the next couple of months to ensure we finish strong and prepare for a new school year in September of 2021.
