Hello Stayton Community!

I am delighted to be entering my sixth year of service as the principal of Stayton Elementary School. The last 15 years of my career have been in education. I spent the first 12 of those years teaching mostly first and second grade at Miller Elementary School in Salem. I also spent a year as their instructional coach. I gained a lot of experience and knowledge during my time as a teacher.

My undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts was obtained from Simpson University as well as my fifth year teaching credential. I obtained my Masters of Education in Education Administration from Concordia University. I am currently completing the coursework for my continuing Administrative License there as well.

I have been married for 30 years and we have two grown daughters. Our oldest is a recent graduate of University of Oregon, and she is also employed as a middle school orchestra teacher. Our youngest daughter is beginning her 3rd year of college at PSU. I enjoy spending time with my family traveling, playing games, watching movies and listening to music. When I am not spending time with my family, I enjoy spending time with friends and reading. I look forward to a great 2018-2019 school year at Stayton Elementary!

Although I originally set my sights on a career in Neverland where I would never have to grow up, I found that teaching afforded the same perks-minus the pirates!

I have spent the last 19 years (almost as long as Professor Dumbledore) finding great joy working with students at Stayton Elementary School. I have spent most of that time primarily as a kindergarten teacher where the students' love learning and belief in magic gave me the strength and courage to pursue additional academic adventures. I hold multiple degrees and certifications from a variety of colleges. Because I always love a challenge I decided to try a new adventure and become the Dean of Students.

Now in my spare time, I enjoy a good game night with family and friends, going to the movies, and curling up with a great book. I can often be seen sneaking into classrooms where I enjoy reading and working with students but also passing on some of my magic pixie dust as a coach to the next generation of teachers that don't want to grow up!
