    Stayton High School Counselors believe:

    • All students shall have access to a school counselor who advocates for their academic, career and social/emotional needs.
    • Students learn about their personal value and potential to contribute to society through a variety of programs and opportunities at school.
    • A successful education will lead students to be positive influences in the community and to attain fulfilling careers.
    • All students have dignity and worth
    • All students can be academically successful and productive members of society.
    • All students’ ethnic, cultural and racial differences and special needs are considered in the planning and implementation of the school counseling program.
    • All students deserve trained school counselors who provide a comprehensive school counseling program. 


    Vision Statement

    All students from Stayton High School are strong self-advocates and demonstrate grit and resilience. They are well prepared to confidently pursue college and career opportunities in the 21st century. Our students are employed or on track to be employed in a career that matches their individual interests, abilities, and values and are productive contributors in a diverse, global society. They are fully engaged in lifelong learning, and actively seek new and challenging experiences that expand their worldview.

    Mission Statement

    The mission of the comprehensive school counseling program at Stayton High School is to address the academic, college/career, and social/emotional preparatory needs of our diverse student body. We promote equity, access, and success for all students and empower them to discover their full potential while encouraging self-advocacy and accountability. We collaborate with other educators and stakeholders to advocate for all. Students have access to challenging coursework and enrichment opportunities to enable them to become lifelong learners and caring, productive citizens in the 21st century.

Important Information



    Schedule Change Requests Open Now

    All schedule change requests will be made online this year. Students and/or parents will be able to submit requests through September 6th at 3 pm.

    Counselors will contact you via email with a new schedule or the reason that your request was not able to be met.

    Only the following reasons are eligible for a schedule change request:

    • an incomplete schedule
    • missing a course needed for graduation
    • don’t have a necessary prerequisite for a course
    • failed a class with the same teacher and would like to try a different teacher
    • need to retake a failed course
    • A class that you have already taken/completed in summer school is on schedule
    • You have 6 or more core classes in one semester
    • You got a class you didn’t forecast for
    • You did not get an advanced, honors or CTE course that you need/want
    • Need an off campus period
